Did you check the "Blog Archives" on the right side of the top page? ......................................... This blog is still up n' running. The Boston Bruins "Bobby Orr era" is mentioned in the latest blog-entry. This had to be one of the most exciting times in sports history if you lived in New England at the time; where tickets at Boston Garden for the St

Okay, another vote for St Martin/St Maarten. Noticed that St. Martin/St Maarten has far n' away the most votes of all the islands on the list for: "belongs on the list." So, it comes in first for fan-enthusiasm.

Double-D, just tell them it's the quality, not the quantity that counts. Also, censoring "topic discussion" of various and differing opinions isn't all that friendly, either. Note: this forum is still here, and no one evaporated into thin air because of past, lively discussions, but they do remember them. So, what does that tell you? It tells that they enjoyed the ba

The locals do drive rather fast on the hilly, narrow roads with a lot of blind curves: stay toward the edge of roads and avoid diving down the middle of roads. If you're used to riding scooters at home, you'd probably be alright in the daytime and using them for going to the beach, etc., but scooters aren't recommended for night driving at all. However, due to the great dive

The only notable storm was Irene and, as a tropical storm, dropped a lot of rain but was of no consequence.

Actually, it seems that when they be-ach about timeshares, it's fact-based on very substantive complaints that seems due to systemic problems with timeshares. There are some good timeshares, obviously, but that doesn't preclude the overwhelming number of legitimate complaints, in general.

The best advice is to just stay away from timeshares. Overall, it's proven to be a dysfunctional concept. It isn't as if there aren't any regular hotels.

Re: I wanted to post these ones since loooong time!!! Posted by: Mathieu (---.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com) Date: July 02, 2010 07:53AM Ah, OK. So a little out of the way, but still doable as a good hike with the reward of a nice beach and swim at the end. And then a hike back. Where can one park their car safely at Ance Marcel before doing the 'Sportive route' ? Its been a long

Hi Enzo. Mullet Bay was my guess by instinct when I first saw the pic. It seems too big for Maho. Although, I'm not familiar enough to recognize the distant details of background physical features, Mullet beach was the first thing that popped into my head.

But then again, the pic wouldn't have been labled "Rush Hour" if that were the case. It looks like that long hill climb on the Philipsburg to Oyster Pond/Dawn Beach road though.

Well, I'm not a gigantic fan of JB, but he did present the info as hearsay after all, not confirmed fact. I mean, he posted it on a forum, not in a newspaper article/OP-ED or something. How many times have various hotels and resturants been talked about with regard to being sold or being for sale, etc., but didn't happen and no one got worked-up about it? Speculation about the sale

Mathieu, that would be Ed and Sandra who provided those great trip reports and photos. They did have style, and I always found their approach to life quite interesting. They may very well stil be posting on TTOL. Although, I had one of their photos (great one of Dawn Beach) linked in the sig box on the "d" in "Ed." and only just recently did the photo disappear; it may be d

It's funny to notice that, except for one moderator, I'm still in first place for "total posts" by a wide margin. I can't remember if the stats of the "total posts" feature carried-forward when this board was upgraded in 2005, though. When I first started posting here, Kipp n' Slip seemed to be answering the majority of questions. That was probably

Right, how the restaurants handle any problems like the one described in the original post, is pretty much up to the restaurants. Probably nine out of ten times, most people would just move on after being told that the restaurant beach area is reserved for chair rentals and it's not a big problem. Your post in explanation of the legal rights involved is helpful, in that, people prob

Well, I think you're spreading out into apologist territory and "taking sides", Philippe. There isn't much point in faulting finding with regard to who's more justified in their attitude: the tourists or the restaurant workers. I think tourists feel that they have educated themselves with regard to the beaches being public, when everyone tells them, (especially loc
