Any advice on whether we shoul rent a cell phone for the wk we are there? We plan to take our own for emergencies(verizon) but don't plan to use it unless we have to. I'm thinking a rental phon would be just 1 more thing to keep up with. Are dining reservations at midrange restaurants necessary during off season (next week)?

Hi folks, We'll be leaving Sunday for SXM and want to thank you all for a lot of good info. I feel like i'm well prepared and can't wait. I read somewhere about some locally made ice cream that is out of this world but can't find it again. I'm not sure but it might startwith "E". Is it available island wide and what's it called? Thanks!

Ive read about Caribbean cards and privilege cards. Where do you get them and which do you recommend. TTOL seemed to think Caribbean for Dutch side and privilege for French. We will be dining on both sides.for about 10 days. thanks!

In reading the forum i've found references to service charges added to restaurant bills. Is this the gratuity in which case you don't leave an additional tip? I've read on one site that gratuity is added to your bill automatically on French side as in Europe while on Dutch side standard American tipping is the norm. Is this correct? It's all a bit confusing if(as with me) you&

Hey guys. We plan to be in sxm 1st wk of july'10 and on Saba last wk of june '10. Would you recommend travelers cksand credit cards or cash and credit cards? What do you do with your spending $/credit cards while swimming at beach? Been following ya'll and know not to leave it in rental car. Do Saba and sxm both take cc and travelers checks? We will be at oyster bay on St. Martin.
