Hello all! Just home from our week on sxm and before I go further I must extend my sincerest thanks to Philippe who made my birthday dinner an even more enjoyable one- besides just having dinner at Capt. Olivers. It is so fun to put a face behind the typing. I feel sad that I no longer really have a reason to keep up with the forum until I know for sure when we will be returning-well there

I wasn't going to do this but the suspense has been making me crazy....how has the weather been? Much rain? Are the forecasters you watch there any better than half of the weather reports out there? When I went back to school I always said I should be going for meteorolgy cause where else can u have a job and be wrong 95% of the time and still keep your job?! 24 hours till airport-YEAA

I am def. going to rent a car, but was hoping that there would be a few beaches I could hit via island transpo just in case i had a rum punch or two- the ten day weather has the island in for rain every day til the 11th-some days are just 40%-the rest are 60%-so in front of me it looks bleak. I know the island needs rain am just paranoid that there will be too much? thanks so much for the kin

Hi all, my arrival date is looming and i tool a quick look at the weather channel via the web-my question is....if they call for 30%-40% it is still likely to have sun that day?? Give it to me straight if the island is in for a week of rain 6/6-6/13 I can take it. Now on a lighter note that I am going to see sunshine-can you guys tell me all the beaches the bus accomodates? Thank you al

Well this turned out to be a successful topic for me - as I now know of another good place to shop>< Rima's it is! Even though I was quite dismayed at first about the 1st post! The no shorts really threw me off, but figured so long as they are a decent length and with a t-shirt I would be ok. I threw a pair of terry capri's just for the heck of it.

I believe it was this forum that I saw a video on seahorses by a local photographer?? I just spent an hour looking for it for a niece and couldn't find it. For some reason I thought it was Barb who posted it. I have taken on so much info the last month however, that I am completely lost. Anyone have a clue of what video I was talking about? Thanks as usual for any help! Jewels

I was just curious about whether your local police were taking measures to try and deter-as I said it just comes naturally for me to ask I realize of course, just as in the states that it is virtually impossible for the police to be everywhere and catch all thieves. It is just a shame that for such a beautiful place there is such ugliness and I actually feel for the residents- I can only imag

measures such as getting a grip on the crime and the thieves- I apprehend shoplifters and deal w the police alot so was just curious that I hadn't heard anything on the local force. I certainly am not worried, i am astute and aware of my surroundings, and will only wear my engagement ring and 1 simple ring on right hand -simple diamond studs so i will not be standing out-working around t

It is actually from this site under restaurants and when you click on the "web surfers" site it is under "Dining experiences in sxm may and nov 2008 it says, and I quote at Les Boucaniers that chef nicholas and wife frances "provided refuge when we were being led and followed by suspicious vehicle when leaving the Marina Royale to return to the Sapphire" Just a weird

I completely realize that, but not everywhere do you hear about someone being followed, I was just curious as to whether or not the locals could be specific or know what the followers purpose was. I have heard crazy stories about how far the timeshare sellers will go so I was hoping that might be it. Personally not too worried as my s/o-fiancee' is retired Air Force with arms the size of h
