Jacqueline, I usually am in Grand Case,and you can walk a path over the hill to Happy Bay.I think there is a local way to drive through a field to get a vehicle there.I understand there is somewhat of a crine-wave going on, and from what I understand it really is not a good idea to be isolated. I could not agree more! The car they gave me, once I got over to Grand Case and realized it, had all worn tires to a dangerous level,all tires had metal mesh exposed. It would not even go up a hill it ran so bad. I was going to change a tire myself so I could get it back to them,but the spare was the same wear, and flat.Finally,when I did get back,I went into the back where they work on the cars,

I will be there in 2 days,I have never had a problem when on St.Martin/Maarten. Some reports mention now about planned accidents aimed at rental cars, and overall island safety.Should I believe these reports? If so; I really would like to know the areas of concern. Thanks,Frank

Whomever you decide to rent a car from,check the car over. Especially check tire wear and spare tire(not flat).Also most likly your US insurance will not be valid to cover the rental car as it would be,say in the Virgin Islands,a US territory

If you want to drive over to Grand Case on French side,Hevea Hotel Is not expensive,no TV's and such but clean and safe compound. You can check out Calmos Cafe,just a walk up the beach.....
