I have not noticed anyone topless there but that doesn't mean that women don't do it. I believe topless is allowed on the beaches on the French side.

GCBC is a great resort. Have stayed there many times throughout the years. There are two small beaches, very calm water with no big "drop off". The smaller beach is for guests with plenty of loungers but no shade. The only shade is under a sea grape tree and you need to get there REAL early for those loungers. The other beach is used by both guests and day visitors. They have umbrella

We have stayed at Marys Boon in the past. Our last visit we were not too happy. Big change since the new owner took over a few years ago. Not the same charming place that it once was. Check out the reviews on tripadvisor.com. I also have a knee problem and find that the Flamingo suits my needs. There are elevators, easy access to the pool, the bigger beach has a slight drop-off but manageable if

Thanks for the trip report. We are up to 2 weeks per visit 2 to 3 times a year. We left the island right before you arrived. Glad to hear your weather was good, when we were there we had a lot of cloud cover and rain, but still had a wonderful time!

The best hamburger I ever had anywhere was at Karabuni, ( also their grilled lobster is to die for). It was delicious!! We love Pinel, it's gorgeous!

Weather was not too good when we were there in the beginning of May for 10 days, actually the worst May weather we have had on SXM in all of our May trips. The French side looks parched and the grass is brown. You really do need the rain. But if you are there and it rains, find a beach bar under a palapa and be thankful you are in Paradise, beats being in NJ!
