I don't think they are looking for food items. bringing in food is not a problem here. I think they are mainly looking for drugs. and I think they focus on the European flights and the flights from Curacao. I don't think they are bothering much with the flights from the States.

FYI the neighborhood going to mary's boon is not bad... far from it. I am not sure where the other travelers comments came from. that neighborhood is not a high crime area. and usually the noise from the planes does not bother most people. but glad you found a place to stay

BTW, this is a more accurate weather forecast although it only does 3 days in advance, which all they can really accurately do anyway. Rick about 2 weeks ago, we had a cloudburst in the Philipsburg area. It rained heavily for almost 2 hours. My rain gauge mesuered 1 1/2 inches of rain. Roads were flooded. That happened on the Philispburg side of the mountain. Not a drop fell in Simpson

yes. the supermarkets bring in a lot of turkeys at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Some people on the island have begun to celebrate Thanksgiving. THe islanders love to eat so Thanksgiivng can be a great day for them. Of course,it is a regular working day here. Most of the restaurants have Thanksgiving day specials.

yes, it is illegal to import seashells.or to take them... especially the large queen conch shells which are endangered.There ar estill animals in many of those shells. Even the smnall bits of coral.. Whenthey and small shells are taken from the seashores, it contributes to more beach erosion.
