you can not work legally on the island if you are an American unless your wife files for residency for you. and as far as I know there are no "jobs" as an artist per se although there may be some limited opportunities in visual arts. the best thing to do is make some inquiries when you are down here. good luck!

It is difficult to give yo exact figures. the electricity cost on the french side are cheaper than the dutch side, but other than that I don;t knwo much abotu french side rentals. On the Dutch side for a decent one bedroom apartment expect to pay anywhere between $800 - $1200 per month plus utilities.
