Saw the (co?-)owner of Calmos last week. He is hoping to re-open in 2020. In the meantime he is running Le Telegraph, in Orient, on the square. We had lunch there (on the beach side of the building). Very nice. Big outside area for dinner on the square with comfy chairs.

Beautiful picture, but there is no way that it can be St.Maarten. If you stand on the highest point on Culebra (650 ft) the horizon is at 35 miles. See: Distance of the Horizon. The distance between St.Maarten and Culebra is about 140 miles... Even if you take into account Pic Paradis at 1400 ft, you won't see further then 60 miles or so. Looks to me St.Thomas or something.

Yes, BobP, there is Guy's on the other side of Maho. Drinks are a lot cheaper there, and the rum punch is their specialty, not sure how many different knds of liquors she put in there! I think Guy started out with just a cooler and now has a 'real' bar with chairs and tables. Even serving food. Too bad though about Sunset Beach Bar. It was a fun place.

Yes, I really think it looks cleaner There are still the overfilled containers I guess, but there is so much less litter along the road, like bottles, plastic bags, etc. I was actually pleasantly surprised when we drove around the island, except for what they are doing to Cupecoy!!! How could they ever have approved all that construction on the Lagoon side of the road! A real shame. R

We just bought some Douwe Egberts. The famous Dutch Coffee! I think it was around 5 guilders, $2.50? For 250 grams, half a pound, at the Grand Marche. Very tasty, compared to regular american coffee.

That is strange indeed. One thing I can think of is that you might have javascript disabled, but even without javascript the forum should work normally, it's only used for 'enhancements'. Otherwise e-mail me what kind of operating system (Windows XP, Mac OS X10.5, ...) and browser you are using...
