Residency

Hi,

i will soon relocate to the french side of SXM.

I'm EU Citizen, do i need to register somewhere or can i just "live".

You do need to register, but I don't know the specifics. If you do a search here, I believe Philippe has answered this in detail

Actually, I am not so sure a registration is needed anymore. It seems that as long as the EU citizen (except Croatian) as valid passport or ID and doesn't represent a "threat for the public order", he has the right to enter and reside, and work. He doesn't need to request a residency title or "titre de sejour" however, is he does the request, the French authorities have the obligation to deliver one.
However, to be able to live long term on French territory as a EU citizen, you must justify employement... now how this is verified and by who, I am not sure.
I believe the best would be to contact the Prefecture de Saint Martin, as we are a "collectivite Territoriale" and our Status with the EU might differ slightly than France Metropolitaine
