Cheapest areas to live in St. Martin

Hi,
what are the cheapest areas to rent in St. Martin?
I suppose Marigot is the most expensive as its the capital.
I would like to know the cheapest areas to rent a one bedroom apartment.

truthfully, there are no cheap areas. the island is very expensive.
If you find an inexpensive apartment, it's usually a dump.
maybe only if you live in a more rural area but then transportation can be a problem.

Generally speaking, is Marigot more expensive than the rest of the island?
Or are the prices of apartments similar in other areas?
The rent prices are similar here in Ireland, but we have a higher cost of living; and higher taxation.
Are the rural areas much cheaper than the towns?

I would guess marigot is more expensive.. and of course anything near a beach or tourist area would be more expensive.
I think matthieu is right... maybe check on some other forums..
I don't know of any French side forums though myself.

Johnny, Barbara is a longtime island resident. You can rely on her good advice. The links she has provided you are great. I have seen the first 2 often recommended on French boards (especially the second one) for roommate, shared accommodations and job info, so take a look.
I'll send you some other info as well.
