Just returned from our 4th trip to Sint Maarten. We rented a 6 bedroom Villa near Dawn Beach, including maid service and pool man. There were 9 of us. The cost was cheaper than if we had rented 6 hotel rooms for the week! Plus, we could cook some of our meals. We had an unobstructed view of Guana Beach and Dawn Beach, in a gated community.
We finally made a pilgrimage to the Ma Dou dou Rum factory in Cul de Sac. It wasn't too difficult to find. Two of us brought back 22 bottles! The customs duty was only $25.00
We also went to the Lolos in Grand Case, Kali's Beach Bar in Friar's Bay, Oyster Pond, and, of course, shopping in Philipsburg.
But most of all we relaxed!!!

Thanks for the report. what was the name of your Villa? Where did you eat in the Oyster Pond area?

The name of the villa was "Eden Rock". We didn't actually eat at Oyster Pond. We had drinks at the Oyster Pond Resort.

Sounds like you were really on vacay!! >< That's what it's all about! Thanks for telling us about Eden Rock. I'd seen pix but haven't stayed there. Too many places....too little time.

Would Eden Rock happen to be located between Coral Beach Club and the Westin? I went to St. Martin for the first time June 4, 2011 and stayed at a Coral Beach Club Villa on Dawn Beach. It was absolutely PERFECT!!!! Nothing like waking up looking at the water and walking out to your private plunge pool and then taking a few steps right to the beach! Now. . . if I could just figure out how to get a job teaching school and live there!

Yes, you're exactly correct. However, we were located on a bluff above the sea. It made for incredible vistas of both Dawn Beach and Guana Beach, but it was a trek to get down to the beach.
