Philippe,

Like so many others who have posted, we never had the pleasure of meeting the Captain, but through your stories over the years he's become 'known' to so many of us.

I'm sure he would have loved your tribute and I know it will bring great comfort to the rest of his family.

It's always difficult to let go of those we love - may God give you all comfort in his passing and in the sure and certain knowledge he's 'captaining' another ship somewhere over his own special rainbow.

Respectfully,

pat

I would like to add our sympathies to Captain Oliver's family. We met him a few years ago at the restaurant when the "Hooter" girls were there. It was a wonderful evening of fun, good food and company.

Oliver Lange was not only a good friend but a person I admired and felt very fortune to have meet. My family and Oliver and Maggi enjoyed many good times together and his passing has left a deep hole in our hearts . What a remarkable person! A gentleman, a host, and a very astute business person. Oliver we will miss you but know you are on a boat somewhere, the Captain, and of course on the course you have have set. May the seas be mild and the wind always at your back. Our Family will always remember the good times on your boat, and at Capt. Olivers.

Hundreds of people, I mean.. literally hundreds, showed up! May be 300.. maybe more! A lot of close friends, some people who just cross his path sometime in their life but were touch by him, his entire staff (his extended family), many many many people...Some came from France, from the States, from everywhere for the occasion. Even some of his very first customers from 27 years ago were here, just arrived from the USA yesterday! Some French celebrities from Paris... everybody! It was beautiful, moving, but like he wanted it to be : Happy! A lot of memories were share, a lot of tears, a lot of laughs... He wanted his memorial to be like a "Cha CHa CHa" party, like a big party as he was so use to give, and that's what we did up to late in the night.
May he rest in peace and have good wind and soft sea for his last sail...

Kind Regards,
Philippe

That's a wonderful tribute to him. I'm glad so many showed up.
I'm sorry I could not be there.

BTW, there was this terrific letter to the editor in TDH yesterday, giving tribute to him.
