Barbara,

I've said it before and I'll say it again......these photos are a good reminder of what people can survive and surmount when they are of a will and a mind to.

We had planned a trip for a month or so after Luis but were advised the hotel we were booked in, Mullet Bay Resort, had been basically destroyed by the havoc of the storm.

In April '96, we returned to The Towers for the first time post Luis and were amazed at the strength and fortitude shown by the people of the island given the destruction and chaos they had survived.

Your photos are testimony to all that and more.

Respectfully,

We didn't even wait that long. We survived the storm having been there and returned 6 momths to the day. We were thanked for our confidence in the island and her people.

Unfortunately that same fortitude and strength had only turned to complacency.

It must be Human's nature since it seems that, through its people choices and actions, exactly the same attitude happened in another well known country 9 years after certainly one of the most tragic event of all time...

Kind Regards,
Philippe

Thank you Barbara for your pictures and making us stop and take time to remember the total devastation of Hurricane Luis.

And thank you Philippe for reminding us of the day life changed for all of us.
