Sad to see it abandoned and looking so dilapidated. I remember it in its hey day, late 60s early 90s. Wasn't it used as an army base some years ago ? or am I thinking of something else ?

The beach at 5.15 looks pretty enough.

The Hotel was open and operated by Conrad International Hotels from March 1988 to about July 1995. It was sold by the bank which owned it, then Hurricane Luis came to town in September 1995.

It has been closed since then. There were some Gerndarmes living there in the late 1990's for a brief period.

Prior to Conrad, which is/was the International arm of Hilton Hotels USA, the property had been set to open as a Club Med. When I arrived in September 1988 there was Club Med china in the employee cafeteria and my apartment!

such a great place. I remember going there in the 70's when it was a half constructed place because the original developer ran out of money.. all overgrown ..like an old Mediterranean village that had been abandoned. it was so beautiful.
I also remember going to some great jazz concerts there too when Conrad was running it.

Wow, Grapelli, Brubeck, Hampton...that was some talent it attracted back then.
And now, just the ghost of memories. I guess one is able to walk through the property to get to the beach like the folks in the video did ? Some of the beach looks pretty decent and quite private and unpopulated.

Is Baie Nettle Beach Club still around ? or has it been turned into something else ? or become another monument to its past ?

His house is the LAST one on the North side of Morne Rouge, the dead end of the road, past Nancy's old house.
