It's hard to know for sure in this case, but I have come across a few tires on rentals in SXM that mysteriously deflated. When I brought it to the attention of the rental agency owner, they gave me $5 for a Fix-A-Flat. Often, the tires are not properly repaired so that a flat may not be the result of any negligence on the current renter. I would definitely let the rental agency deal with it. Most of them are pretty stand-up and will give you another vehicle while they handle the repair.
