I can also see Simpson Bay, but what about the signal tower? There was not a signal tower on Simpson Bay or Pelican Point. And why is Billy Folley Mtn not showing in the picture background?

OK Barbara, I have faith in you. Where is it.

NOPE. Not Mullet in 1984. There would of been palapas along the beach and not the white buldings.

My good Friend Barbara is calling me for help...LOL! grinning smiley So, since I just received her email begging me to take a look at this link here I am...smiling bouncing smiley LOL
Few weeks ago, Barbara sent me this picture asking me my guess. I thought like many of you that it was Mullet bay, because of the radio tower.
First of all, if I increase the size of the picture, I am not sure that those "white stuff" are buildings... specially if you considerate the size of the people walking on the beach almost in front of them and the size of the "white stuff"... Could this white stuff be cars parked along side the beach? If yes, then could this beach could be Maho Beach ? which would explain why we see the tower at the point of Beacon hill, all the other smaller relay tower along side the runway...
I don't know, just another guess...eye rolling smiley

Kind Regards,
Philippe

def not mullet, in the 80's you wouldn't have seen that much greenery along the beach, two restaurants and a few bars and shopping stores/water sports. Way too long for maho bay. Could it be Simpson bay? looking up from say the drawbridge up that way? idk, I am still thinking maybe Anguilla!!

all I have on the back of it is that it was taken by Sontheimer in 1984. Sontheimer was the marketing company that SXM used at the time.
It's not Anguilla for sure. maho is an interesting possibility though.
could it be?

You know if you take a picture with a very wide angle zoom, like a 28mm or less you have a different perspective and the beach may seems to be longer than what it is in reality, then it could be Maho...

I know the tower is a dead giveway for the maho area, but could it be baie longue? and Lasamana in the background? This one has me puzzled?

yes but to determined the winner we should know for sure the answer first, except if we introduce it as the responder must provide strong evidence of his guest...LOL

and I am still questioning if those little white stuff are buildings, because if they are, it means they are VERY small in accordance with the height of the radio tower which is WAY further away in the picture.... That's not like they are miles away from the photographer... You know who it would be nice to have an opinion from?... Denis (Bigdenx) since he spend most of his time on Maho beach photographing planes, and since he has a real expertise in photography, I bet his two cents would help.eye rolling smiley

Kind Regards,
Philippe
