When suggesting places to eat it would help if you would let us know where on the island you are staying.

I think you will do much better on the French side. Don't bother with the tourist traps on the Dutch side, especially around front street.

There are so many great places to eat on the Dutch side. And, reasonable too. You don't have the hassle with the Euro either.

Economical eating on the Dutch side, try
The Fish Market in Simpson Bay, right next to the drawbridge, with 5 or 6 little restaurants(lolos, almost). very Caribbean.
Peg Leg Pub for Happy Hour(4-6) offers 1/2 price appetizers and drink specials. Some of the apps are a meal in themselves.

This topic has more meaning if we can identify what is "budget" or "reasonable". Lots of little places in the fish market, for example, where you could get take-out for 2 for 20$-ish. (I went there looking for Johnny Bs second spot; he was also still under his tree). But not all of these places were open when I went.

Norm which place in the Simpson Bay Fish Market would you recommend? I remember you and Betty ate at one and also posted a photo but can't remember which one you ate at?

Louise,
Betty and I carried out a pan fried chicken breast dinner [i216.photobucket.com] from Dr Fish in the Simpson Bay Fish Market last September.
We also met the owner of the Goat Fish restaurant this past February. Karin [i216.photobucket.com] is also connected with TOTT in Grand Case. We tried their leg and thigh dinner. [i216.photobucket.com]
