Currency used in St Martin?

Hi,

My good lady and myself are travelling to St Martin in June for our annual holiday and we have a simple question to ask...

What currency is used on the island - Euros, US Dollars or something else?

Many thanks.

Don't apologize! All questions are welcome here! We all hope you have a wonderful vacation!

Depending on where you live, and which side of the island you are visiting, the answer is different.

If you live in a country that uses the Euro, and you plan on visiting the French side, then by all means, bring your Euros and you'll pay prices you're accustomed to! If you're American, then bring your dollars and pay attention to the various exchange rates offered on the French side. The dollar is accepted everywhere, but not at par with the Euro.

On the Dutch side, prices are listed in Dutch Antilles Florins and US Dollars, and the conversion rate is a non-issue. Your US Dollar will buy more on the Dutch side of the island.

Thanks for the replies. We are coming over from England to stay at Divi Little Bay and will bring a selection of US Dollars and Euros.

We went to Aruba last year and it was the same there for the Dutch element.
