How about what it looks like now ....... Please reflect the today, the truth.

If it was yesterday for you - please share where it is, that way we can all know all the beauty of SXM isn't lost to highrises and other crap.

Oh. and please share with us how to find ti without having to deal with traffic.

Then, I have to be wrong. I was sure it was Orient Beach as well. But now that I think about it, sea grapes grew very close to the water on Orient. I am going to really mess up now and say Dawn Beach.

Could it be the beach by the old le Gallion area?

Jimandi you're not wrong, you are right about the location, and like I said it was also like that in 1975, 1983-85... It is Orient... but it was still also like that in october 1990, on october 8th... The pic was taken from the top of the rock behind is now the Coco Beach. today, the coco beach lays right where the person is on the bottom left...

Wow this is fun and very very sad! I have stood on the rock and photographed the Orient bay and beach area and it doesn't look anything like that now! Did all the development come in after hurricane Luis? which was 95 I think?

actually the developpement of Orient Bay started by the end of 1990 and begining/middle of 1991... The esmeralda came first with the Coco beach, then came the Kontiki... The ironi is that when the Kontiki was being build, the developper was looking for an exploitant for the restaurant and nobody were ready to take upon the challenge, thinking it wouldn't work!!! LOL... Gerald was the first to say "deal!.. I am taking the chance.." and the rest is history... I open La Plantation Restaurant late 1992, it was at the time, with L'astrolabe (and papagayo I beleive...), the only restaurant opened for diner on Orient Bay, the newly borned waikiki, Bikini, Kakao, Kontiki and Coco Beach were only opened during the day.
