My memory gets mixed up often, so tell me if I am way off or not.
LBC was started and never finished, sat for some time. Then finished and opened, then destroyed by storm.

Barbara,

That is a different view of the place. Much less green than this one...

I've been reading the thread and I don't understand. Can someone help me out with the name and location of this old hotel?

Thanks so much!

Thank you so much!

I can't tell you how many times we have driven by the locked gate with the small sign that says "La Belle Creole". every time I say that I want to stop and take a walk and "The boss" says no way!

Here is a video of the ruins [www.youtube.com]
And Gobeach's description: [gobeach.com]

It must have really been something!

Barbara,

That pink tower (for want of a better name) should have been a dead give away. We can see it just as clear as a bell from our balcony at The Towers - it just sticks right out there for all the world to see, proclaiming the past glory of what was another beautiful island resort once upon a time.

Respectfully,

pat

I watched the youtube video. But is this after the Hurricane? Does not at all look like when my children and I use to explore.

I will try to find time to look for old pictures I have and ask Barbara help on posting here.

I know all the talk today is about the floating Disneyland...too much for me! But I watched the youtube video about the La Bella Creole Hotel and what a shame! What happened to cause it to be abandoned like that? How do people just walk away from something like that? If someone wanted to restore it, how would you go about it? Who would you contact? It seems like a great location and a little love and lots and lots of money one could make it grand again...I would think...Thanks for the like to the video Barbara.

What an amazing video! It says it was filmed during the summer of 2008. It seems like there has been some maintenance over the years as it's hard to imagine that the varnish work in the bar would have survived.
