Not the usual question, I know.....
Posted by: pat (99.129.102.---)

......but can any of you islanders, particularly you recent transplants, suggest the most likely and easiest place to purchase an inexpensive springform cheesecake pan on the island?

Do you think LGM might carry something like this? The easiest and quickest place to get to and then in and out of from the Maho area would be most helpful?

Thanks in advance,

pat

Pat, Ace Hardware has just about everything there. Or perhaps Cost-u-Less. There is a restaurant supply store that might sell to the public, I can't remember for sure. And I THINK it is near Prime Distributors.
You going to make cheesecake while on island????

Annie,

Thanks for the info but please, don't let that rumor start.

So refresh my mind, please, and tell me where Ace is located? Ah, the mind! It's a terrible thing to lose!! smiling smiley

Thanks, ladies, I can place it now, and if it works out and I'm able to find one in time along with the appropriate ingredients, I'm sure you'll both get a taste along with a few other island friends as well.

And if it doesn't, aw shucks!! There's got to be a great bakery somewhere. Does anyone remember the incredible cheesecake that used to be served at the old Cafe Julianna? I wonder where that came from?

And on a humorous note, we were travelling home about 20 to 25 years ago and the passenger next to us was being ever so careful of a pastry box he'd placed in the overhead. Seems he'd purchased a full cheesecake from there to bring home with him because he loved it so much, only to find out from one of the flight attendents they flew them in once or twice a week from NY. I don't know if this was fact or fiction on the part of the FA but it made me chuckle and think, "Only in SXM...."

I think I've seen them in Ace. If not, surely PDG will have them. Probably more expensive tho. Now I'm REALLY excited!

Pat, would you like me to bring one down? I could always just leave it there in the condo after your done with it. Why buy or lug one down and back when I could easily bring one and just leave it there for my guests to use if they're in the mood for baking during their vacation. Let me know.

As far as I know the casino is still alive in Simpson Bay.
