We will be staying at a Villa on dawn beach in a couple of weeks just wondering if anyone has stayed in the area and how safe is it compared to others parts of the island?

Ask the Villa owner if its safe!!!!!!!!Or recommendations good & bad from previous renters.I'd chech before leaving any small deposit. There are numerous rentals available and cheap since tourism began dropping the last few season. season.good luck

The Dawn beach area is a very nice area, with upscale homes and villas. That being said, some villas have had break ins, so Bob's suggestion is a good one. ask the owner.
Have fun!

We stayed in the area sept 12-22. Never felt threatened and were out at night walking around. It is a nice area that felt residential. No problems.

While not thought to be especially safer or more dangerous than most areas of the island, one consideration with Dawn Beach is that there is not a whole lot to do, right nearby.

People who stay in Simpson Bay or Maho, for example, have endless dining and entertainment options, steps away. Even the folks on the french side are relatively close to Marigot in one direction, and Orient Bay or Grand Case in the other.

But, Dawn Bay has... Dawn Bay. They tend to engage a lot of cab drivers.
