St Martin in August

My husband and I are considering a trip to St Martin in August. Part of the appeal is that it is less expensive at that time, but I have some concerns. I've heard that many businesses/restaurants are closed in August for holiday. Second, I understand it's hurricane season at that time. Can anyone give any insight about businesses and restaurants closing down, and about the likelihood of hurricanes. Would also love to hear about the weather in general in August, and lastly, if there is a better part/side of the island to stay?

Thanks much, any insight would be very much appreciated.

The weather - unpleasantly HOT !!!!!!!!

Why the restaurants are closed - fear of hurricanes and the heat.

Think again.

We have been August visitors for the past number of years, and have always had a great time. The weather is a bit hotter, but nothing that can not be enjoyed, the water is warm. Most restaurants will be open in August. They usually close in September to mid October.

As for Hurricanes, if one could predict them, i would love to meet him. The island has been spared any major storms, and i truely wish it is also he case this season, for the residents and their families.

We always stay on the French side, but it all depends what you are looking for in terms of accomodations.

Hurricane season starts 1st of June and ends 30th of November. You could get an hurricane any time actually, even before june or after november.

to the best of my memory I hardly remember an hurricane hitting sxm in august. July, September, November, October, yes, but there is no way to tell in advance.

Most restaurants close either June or September, but with so many of them on the islands you should be able to survivegrinning smiley!

probably it is also the best time for deals at the Jewelry Stores in town.

Go to accuweather.com to che check the average temperatures it is a bit warmer, but not that much, may be a bit more humid.
