Calling all Party Animals…..BYOD (bring your own dog)
On Saturday, May 23rd - SMART will be holding their first annual Doggie Mixer at Ric’s Place restaurant in Simpson Bay from 5pm – 8pm.

St. Maarten Animal Rescue Team, or SMART, in partnership with Ric’s Place invite you and your pooch (on leash) to take part in the multitude of festivities during this fundraiser. There will be contests for your furry friend including;
best four-step, woof karaoke, and best sit and stay. The event promises to have great raffle prizes and silent auction items, as well as a 50/50 draw. 10% of all food and beverage sales during the event will go to the SMART organization.

SMART is a non-profit organization that helps to care for the stray animals on St. Maarten. They believe sterilization and education are two of the biggest factors in controlling the stray population and subscribe to a no kill philosophy,

This really sounds like a fun evening!

We are going to attend without a mutt just to watch the excitement of a lot of doggies and their owners in one place and the ensuing activities. We'll bid on some of those silent auctions too.

It should be a blast for a worthy cause. Possibly we will rent a dog for the evening....Philippe..got a rent-a - dog ?

Barbara...are you gonna attend and make your boys do their stuff ?

Gotcha covered ! Michele and I are gonna have dinner at Ric's and watch the "doggyworks"....we'll do as requested and perhaps will have some luck. Some of our other buds and their dawgs are going so we'll make it a party to bark for ! Pics will be taken,,,,too bad you couldn't be there.

Invested for you in the 50/50 raffle but we didn't win...sorry !

About 40 dogs showed up..no fights, a VERY entertaining evening was had by all. The sit and stay contest took quite a while.

SMART and Jacqueline collected a great number of prizes for the various raffles as well as the silent auctions. We bid and won 2 nights/3 days at Sonesta MAho for a reasonable price.

Tamara and the RIC's staff were great...karaoke night followed and many doggire ppl. stayed.

I chatted with Tamara at b'fast yesterday a.m. and she believes over 2 k was raised.

Thanks for all who supported...they appreciate online support as well as donations.
