wow what a difference 40 years make ...

All these pictures of the past are hurtful. Remembering what the island's beauty and pristine nature was, reminds folks of what it is not now.

Sorry, when remembering is stronger than the now, it is very sad.

We have been going since the early '70's when we fell in love with SXM,but now we stay more at home at Belair Beach and still are happy. NOt the same, but we are old enough to stay put more than in the past.

Barbara, Looks like a Little Bay Beach Hotel postcard from the DAYS and before the Belair was built in 82.LB was a nice hotel with an excellent beach area, too.We were unhappy when DIVI purchased it and forced the non TS purchasers away in 86. Thanks.

Thank you for helping make my point. Never thought of the analogy with our children or grandchildren's pictures.

Let's take a grandchild. This grandchild, now very grown up, but not really nutured or had their future planned out by careless parents. Turns to crime, once in a while, to get by. Drugs, a part of their lives, but don't know how much and don't really want to find out.

Ah, and then there is what they have done to their body (the island). Ink, lots of it (undo amount of building on the island) and metal, pierced in every imaginable place (cars, constructiion vehicles on their way to put on more tats, perhaps). Sadly, this person is still without direction (island officials).

Yeah, everyone has innocent pictures to look back on and say "ah, remember when". But, when compared to someone that has gone to an extreme opposite, it is sad after looking back to realize what they have become.
