Barbara, months ago on another board you posted your prize winning Chili Recipe. Could you post here again? We are having a neighborhood Chili Cook off in two weeks and would like to try yours. Full credit will be given to you of course.
Thank you in advance.

This is the recipe that I posted. Enjoy. I have doubled it a lot as it freezes very well.

-------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.03

Title: Chili
Categories: One pot, Main dish, Favorite
Yield: 10 Servings

Oil
2 lb Lean ground beef
2 cn Kidney beans
1 cn Crushed tomatoes (28oz)
2 lg Onions, chopped
3 Garlic cloves, chopped
1 Green pepper, chopped
3 tb Chili powder
2 tb Sugar
1 tb Crushed red pepper
3 tb Red wine vinegar
1 ts Ground cumin
Shredded cheese -optional
Sour cream - optional

In non-stick skillet heat oil and saute onions until wilted, about 5
minutes. Add garlic and saute for 2 minutes more.
Transfer onions and garlic to large Dutch oven or stock pot.
Add ground beef to skillet (in batches) and brown, transferring to Dutch
oven when finised.
Add tomatoes, peppers, vinegar, sugar, and spices to Dutch oven. Heat to
boiling, lower heat and simmer for about an hour.
To serve ladle into bowls and top with shredded cheese and zap in
microwave to melt cheese or run under broiler. Add a dollop of sour cream
if desired.

-----
Enjoy,
Annie

smart ass tongue sticking out smiley

BTW, that's why we haven't gotten a new stove yet. The one in the kitchen doesn't work... the oven.....just the stove top works.
We have to use the old one downstairs.
Every time I mention to Dee...which is not often... that we have to get a new stove., he says..why, you never cook! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

LOL......It is a good thing when you can make people smile. But, I learned how not to cook. My husband does not even know how to turn the stove on, so all I have to do is say it is broken. Then all I have to make is reservations!
Live and Learn (Mental note to self,,,,Do not ask Barbara for recipe)
Thanks for the smile.

Sylvia,

With all due respect, and you know I love her dearly, but that's the funniest thing I've read here in ages.

Actually, no dummy she - if she has the world convinced she can't, they won't ask her to. Do you think that's the case here? Nah !!

So B, if you getting that new stove is totally dependent upon your cooking prowess, I'm thinking the Gardener can go buy lots of little fish for the fishpond or some new exotic plants for the garden but a new stove/oven will not be high on his list of priorities.

Hugs,

pat

Well, that recipe looks rather bland to me. Chili should be made without beans and have some kick to it as well. It should be a task to eat chili, a little bit of sweat and pain should come with it. It's a man's food and the recipe should provide the ingrediants to provide that kick.

Cowboy, sorry you don't think much of my Chili recipe. I did win a Chili Cook-Off Contest with it. As for the beans...you know and I know that is a matter of preference. And there is loads of kick to it. To each their own.

Well Cowboy, you should try it. Made half recipe just to try and it is wonderful. Truly, truly GOOD.

I registered it in our community cook off on January 24 as:

Annie's Chili & Barbara's Not yo Chili.

Annie, I will let you know how we do.
