did you get a sence of that esmeralda is safe place to be at night ,say going to your room from the car or just abeing in your room at night . I ask because I see that Orient vVillage has had some repeated break ins over the past few months.Is the road between Esmeralda safe to travel on at night say going to grand case or Marigot also?

At the Esmeralda your car is parked right in front or along side your room.Only a few yds to the entrance from your parking spot.Yes, the Village has been under a crimewave recently and many villa breakins.The rds are as safe as anywhere else.IMO, GC isn't as safe as yrs ago and most restaurants are empty by 10:00PM. I don't know how long you've been visiting SXM but yrs ago GC had two seatings 8 & 10 PM nolonger.I have noticed more police around the French side lately and the HQ is in LaSavanna.

Just use common sense. I would not expect difficulty at Esmerelda.
