WINAIR...Why ?

Hey!

Many of you locals may know the answer.

Why can't WINAIR get routes to service SJU from SXM?

The only game in town is EAGLE and LIAT; both pretty expensive for a 450 mile flip.

I have asked Eddie Hodge on a number of occasions and he says "we're working on it"

Some dude has a "semi-scheduled" SJU to SBH in a Caravan 208..he must do O.K.

If WINAIR expanded to SJU and FLL they would never have to look back!

Denis,
Who is normally supposed to grant the authorization for the routes betwwen two countries? Is there an International or National organism? Liat and Eagle are even more expensive if you considerate that there is only approximatly 150 miles between the two Airport SJU and SXM

even if Winair starts flying that route don't expect them to be any cheaper. Winair from St. Maarten to St Barths..only 10 minutes away..... runs almost $300.00 round trip.
I was able to find one flight for $167.00......all the rest were $292.00
ridiculous!

You're right,

The option is SBH Commuter from GC but that's off the wall now as well. Looks like I'll be taking the boat!

Fuel is way down but I guess the staffing issue still rears it's ugly head.

A sign of the times, prices will turn Barts into a private island for the helicopter rich.

Less than 3 weeks and getting antsy for the smell of jet fuel at the fence and roaring planes overhead. hahaha!
