the picture is the le grand in marigot and wasnt there a boardwalk walkway out into the ocean that had a bar at the end? there was no road behind the le grnde back then...and then the barge was wrecked there after the hurricane and it seemed it was there for many years before they removed it.

I think this time the Concorde was privately chartered by French actor Alain Delon and his girlfriend/companion of 15 years Mireille Darc. They were coming to their house in Baie Rouge with a bunch of movies stars and friends to celebrate his birthday... big party! I think it was in 1987, just few month before they separate...aaah la vie de star!!!

Kind Regards,
Philippe

I don't think so Philippe?
as I recall, the plane was chartered by some French businessman coming to talk over some kind of investment here.
I remember that day so well.. we decided at the last minute to go down to the airport to see the plane. well, who knew that the entire island decided the same thing. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get to the airport..and in those days there were no traffic jams on the island LOL
we saw it land from the top of Cole Bay Hill.
We got to the airport and Dee knew some people in the control tower and we were invited up there to watch the Concord take off.
that was so cool.
The whole airport was closed for this event. The Concord took off and then the pilot flew the plane low back over the runway. looked very cool. Within less than 10 minutes after that our airport traffic control passed him over to Venezuela air traffic control because he was already in Venezuelan air space.
Now that was one cool plane!

I don't know that's what I was told by some sxm's oldtimer and I thought I read it also in newspaper at that time in France, like Paris Match or so. Maybe Delon chartered another plane than the Concorde then, or did the Concorde came another time beside this one and the Mitterrand's one?confused smiley

Kind Regards,
Philippe
