hurricane season!

We are in the thick of it now
Hurricane Gustav came ashore and caused a lot of damage, sparing N.O.for the most part thankfully.
Now we have Hurricane Hanna, T.S. Ike, T D 9 and TD 10
the line up has begun. As someone said on TV, it's like airplanes lined up just waiting to land.
we are certainly watching all of them carefully.
At this point, they are all forecast to go north of SXM, but that can always change.

This is a great web site to track storms that someone just sent me.

Barbara, looks like Hanna will be headed my way! I feel for the East Coast of Florida as they have not recovered from Fay yet and now with Hanna on the way. Ouch!

The current projected track of Hannah takes her right through Richmond! Normally the winds aren't much by the time they get here, but the rain can cause a lot of problems. We were without power for over a week after Isabel a few years ago. Nothing like total destruction, but still pretty annoying.

Barbara and all,

Prayers to all who lie in the paths of these monsters. Nature is one thing in life we have no control of.

Respectfully,

pat

believe it or not, today is rain with thunder..more drizzle than actual rain..and it is from the outflow from Hanna which doubled around and dropped more south and east. I think Ike and Josephine won't bother us.
I send good wishes to annie and those of you on the east coast. I hope Hanna does not cause much problems for any of you.

Barbara,
I just look at the website Stormpulse.com and that's true, overall it is a great website for tracking, actually very impresive and seems to be accurate in the path the hurricane are or will be taking.
But I look at the archive and how confused I was when I notice that it show Luis as a category 3 over SXM and Lenny as a category 1 ...confused smileyeye rolling smiley
I definitly felt both of them a "little bit" stronger than that...

Kind Regards,
Philippe

Luis was definitely a CAT 4 . I am not sure about Lenny.I know it weakened sometime around the time it was on us.
The worst problem with Lenny was the amount of rain we got.
