Egberts can cost you (and I'm just approximating) about $5.00 for a package of vacuum packed preground coffee vs Folgers or MH going for $3 per package. I am giving you an approx cost difference and not actual. You will find DE to be more expensive but worth it if you value a good cup of coffee. We usually buy both the cheap and the expensive. The cheap is for the morning coffee when you drink it to wake up. The expensive stuff we use at around 5:00 PM when you can reeeeaaaalllly appreciate the taste, especially sitting back with a warmed sliced almond coated chocolate croissant dusted with powdered sugar, and waiting for the sun to begin setting....hmmmm...do you know where I want to be right now? Any guesses...grinning smiley

Thanks for all the feedback, folks.

We're Starbucks addicts who grind our own beans and have three different pieces of coffee-making equipment, depending on our mood. Folgers or Nescafe or anything that comes pre-ground in big cans just wouldn't cut it.

What can I say, I'm a coffee snob...

You can buy the beans for the goumet coffee at Grande Marche & US Imports.
Now, all you need is a grinder!

We just bought some Douwe Egberts. The famous Dutch Coffee! I think it was around 5 guilders, $2.50? For 250 grams, half a pound, at the Grand Marche. Very tasty, compared to regular american coffee.

Egberts is approx. the same price as Maxwell House, here in the States. approx. $5.00 lb. Carte Noire is approx. $5.00 for 12 oz. .....well worth the price. Just think of how many cups of pleasure that can give you!! thumbs up

We buy Lavazza or Illy beans for the office, and of course Santo Domingo for regular use smiling smiley

I'd really love to find some Cafe Bustelo - love making espresso with it. Has anyone seen that on the island?
