Great pictures. I can't wait to see all of the "progress" in Red Pond, Gibbs Bay, Guana, and Cay Bay...

Philippe, Love the old pictures you posted. I stopped in to look at Oyster Pond Hotel in Jan.79. We drove on a long dirt road and parked right in front. I recall it offered only 16 rooms and no phones or Air conditioning. My Aunt & uncle stayed there once but didn't return the next time because they needed phone service.I truely miss the water views we used to have from the road around SB area. Each trip we would see less and less of the water because buildings were being constructed.Remember how many TTOL members used to bash me for complaining about overbuilding & traffic. Now I see those very same members complaining who used to say its progress and good for the locals.IMO, less is more on SXM.

No one is bashing TTOL... He just stated about some members bashing him in the past about him complaining and now they are complaining with him... Relax!smoking smiley

Philippe, Thank you so much for posting these pictures. I particularly enjoyed the old postcard picture of what is now La Vie en Rose, my favorite restaurant in St. Martin. I'm so sorry I didn't have the opportunity to dine there before the harbour was filled in, but I still love it even now. Can't wait to get back; only a little over six months to go until our next trip!

I still have many more to share, but I don't want to post all of them on the same time, I beleive people will appreciate them more if they come few at te time.
I still didn't went through my Mom's pictures collection. She came here before me, and I am sure many of them are interesting too, since she was a great photographer. But the whole stock is in France in our Family home... Next time I'll go there, I will certainly pick up a selection.eye rolling smiley
