May be mine is not relevant since I live here in sxm and am not vacationing, but I think I would prefer to stay first in sxm, party and shop a bit and then go to relax to Anguilla, enjoying the real old caribbean flair (the one we lost in sxm a few years ago because of over developpement, traffic, "americanisation" (sp), etc) before going back to the "real world".
But it is only my opinion and like I said, since I am living here, my approach may be distorded from a tourist point of view...

Thanks Philippe. I was also considering catching the flight back home. I dont want it to be a big hassle and worry about missing my flight. Although, that isnt always a bad thing.

How much is the Cab ride from the boat to Shoal Bay

We have two weeks on St. Maarten so we've found that going over on our fourth or fifth day and staying through the weekend timeshare room change ritual works very well for us, and that way we can leave the majority of our stuff right there and only go over with back packs. This probably won't help you much if you only have a week of timeshare. If that were the case, I would probably add a few days at the end of my trip for Anguilla but I'd make sure I came back to St. Maarten the day before I flew home jic there were any problems.

In March they charged us $22. from Blowing Point to the Allamanda and on the way back it was only $20. from the Allamanda to Blowing Point and I have no clue what the difference was but who's going to quibble over two dollars?

I'm sorry - I should have been more specific. The boat(s) from St. Martin/St. Maarten arrive at Blowing Point, Anguilla. Also, the Allamanda Beach Resort is located on Shoal Bay.

The cab fare is approximately $18. to $22.00, or was back in March. And this would have been for two people.

Taxi fares in Anguilla are fixed, based on a zone to zone price.

The Anguilla Guide page for taxi rates shows that a trip from Blowing Point (Zone 4) to Shoal Bay (Zone8) is $22. for one or two persons. There is a charge of $4 per additional person so if you find another couple going you can reduce your fare. Once at Shoal Bay you arrange a pick-up time and that's it. We actually had Gwen's father as a driver and I had his card but have misplaced it and forgoten his name.

we would like to have dinner on Anguilla however the problem is returning to st martin. is there a reasonable return ferry late or other services that would not coat an arm and leg there are 4 of us. thank you for help

I don't think the ferrys run very late.
If you want to go for supper, it might be best to book a room for the night.
There are some smaller places to stay that might be reasonable.

This may be a dumb question, but what does one do with their passport, money etc. when they want to snorkel in Anguilla? You just can't leave unattended on the beach.

This is not a dump question at all.
I beleive there are so water proof sealed pocket with zipper that you can buy in sport stores, so you can put everything in it and keep it with you while snorkeling.
On the other hand, Anguilla is, in my personal opinion, extremly safe, and people are very respectuous of other people properties.

aGREED. Anguilla is a very safe island but those water tite plastic cases are good and another possibility is to put the stuff in a zip lock bag and bury it in the sand under your towel or chair when no ones looking. Or make friends with a neighbor if there happens to be one close at hand and you watch there stuff and they can watch yours. This always works on st martin but the beaches there are more crowded and its not hard to find a friendly neighbor.
