Hints to avoid paying the baggage fee............good luck!

Apparently the baggage fees are only for those who have discounted tickets. So who pays full fare? Anyway, those who have paid full fare or are Gold or Platinum flyers don't have to pay baggage fees...how nice of AA. I couldn't find any reference anywhere to Aadvantage passengers, but I suspect we'll pay as well.

So this guy's advice is to carry-on. Wonder what's gonna happen when everybody carries on, and there's no room for the carry-ons. I suspect there will begin to be limits on carry-ons. One carry-on item. If its a purse or camera bag, thats it.

It wouldn't hurt if they actually began enforcing the size limitations of the carry-on bags. The week before last both going down and coming back there were all kinds of giant rolling duffels and expandable bags that the terminally entitled rolled onto the plane and then couldn't get into the overheads.

Alan, the way things are going, the overheads will be bursting at the seams!!
They're already out of control, I can't imagine what's in store for the future!

And the best is when you are on a flight from JFK to SJU.... Geeee I never saw so many carry-on in my life on any other flights LOL

And boxes!!

I remember the old days when St. Maarten people used to go to JFK and with curbside check in they would give the attendant a $20 or something and put a box on the plane to send down for family and they weren't even traveling with the box
It's amazing what came down here. and then you could just go into baggage claim here and pick up what was sent to you..no security

It's the same from BOS - SJU. While I like that early flight, I've been avoiding it of late. The lines are out the door for check-in and in Feb. brrrrrrrr!!!
I once asked a ticket agent about the number and sizes of the baggage and she responded, " paper products!" She told me that the price of paper products is astounding in PR. I think there's more tongue in cheek than truth in that comment, but I'd sure like to know. I'd think more in the line of clothing for resale ie: jeans & shoes!! It would more than pay for the trip!!

Contessa, I bet it is paper products, you know. it's true that paper products are very expensive.
The freight is killing everyone. The freight is mesured in volume, not weight.
Think about the size of toilet paper and paper towels in terms of volume and you can just imagine.
