We are four families with children and will be in St Martin in June. We will be staying at the La Bella Casa in Terres Basses. Is this a nice and safe neighborhood, and which areas should we avoid. We will mostly be doing family activities, any suggestions. Also can someone please recommend good places to eat we are a big group and some of us are vegetarian.

Never stayed there, but the pictures are gorgeous! I would never want to leave.
Area should be safe, as I think it is gated.
Most areas will be safe with such a large group(safety in numbers)
Most restaurants will accommodate vegetarians.
With such a large group, you will need to make reservations, to see if different restaurants can accommodate really large parties.
Not knowing the ages of the kids, it is hard to recommend things to do, such as:
Butterfly Farm, Loterie Farm Zip Lines, 12 Metre Challenge, Zoo, Day Sails for snorkeling, Quiet Beaches, Lively beaches, jet skies, para sailing, the list goes on and on.

Hey!

You won't be too far from the Dutch side and MAHO in particular.

A large group can be accomodated easily for lunch at Sunset Beach Bar ( SSBcool smiley or at many of the other restaurants in the MAHO area. They don't offer too much in vegetarian delights but if you ask they will make you a nice salad. Fries etc. are also on the menu.

MAHO beach is great for my passion which is plane watching and photography. It is safe and usually there will be lots of younger folks on the beach.

A must in the MAHO area for dinner is CHERI'S cafe where you can find a reasonable menu, lots of seating and a floor show. The entertainment may be a little raunchy but is generally in good taste for a younger audience. We see lots of large families there.

A day at MULLET beach with a large group may also be a winner, lots of LOLO ( bar b b q ) style food there as well.

Close to the MAHO area on Simpson Bay is Buccaneer Beach Bar and also the PICANTE restaurant. Both can handle large groups and you may be able to get some vegetarian items from the menus. The focal Point here is KIM SHA beach which is safe, quiet and big.

These are only a few of the MAHO/SIMPSON BAY spots where we have seen families and large groups enjoying U.S. dollar pricing.

ENJOY and let us know how you fared.

Galion Beach is perfect for kids - the water is shallow there, you can rent chairs and umbrellas if you wish. Why not bring a picnic - the baguette from the French side is excellent and you will be able to pickup tasty salads, cheeses etc from any supermarket. There is a beach restaurant at Galion - I'm sure you could get a nice salad there also.

The villa looks beautiful...pics here

IMHO Do a big/bulk shopping when you first arrive at
cost-u-less to fill the villa with everyones favorite foods and drinks to keep everyone happy.

Enjoy the villa rather then taking a large group out all the time.

Call Chefs de France and have them deliver meals to the villa.

Here is a map of the area where the villa is located.
