And first time Paul and I went to SXM was on one of those tours! Price was $399.00 each for flight from Hartford, seven nights hotel, taxes, transfers. Boy now THOSE were the DAYS!

Anyone remember Pizza Hot the first Pizza restaurant in Marigot from the 80's.Located in the front part of the building before Bar de la Mer was established. It had a sunken dining area in the middle of the store. Also the two large birds that walked around screaming for food.

Contessa, I only remembered the first part Surf of the name and red flyers or a sign. I keep picturing the place next to David's on the left side in GC. But I'm close to 60 now and the brain cells can't remember things the way they did in the DAYS..........Barbara,Do you recall back in the early 80 seeing the photo of an Eastern Airlines Plane that crashed threw the fence and went into the water while landing.I also remember when we used to stay at LaHabitation during our trips from 86 threw 94 they charged for a hamburger $25.00 and a can of COKE was $5.00.

Hey, Bob....don't complain about your 'rusty' brain cells.....I'm a few years older than you and have a good recollection. Well......sort of...confused smiley
I don't think I remember the Eastern A. plane issue, but I remember the crash on Maho of a plane coming/going from /to St. Bart's!! It was amazing that the pilot and passengers were fine!! Considering my swimming expertise, I'd surely have drowned.......sad smiley

Contessa, Its getting a little harder to recall some of the great places from the DAYS. But I still have a few pictures & postcards from the 70's & 80's to refresh the old brain cells.I think the Eastern Airlines incident was just before you discovered SXM.I remember the St. Barts small plane crash from a few yrs ago too. Remember those DAYS when we only worried about restaurant reservations and sunburn. Now we worry about being robbed or credit card info stolen and where to stay away from.......Philippe, You got that right and SXM hotels and restaurants are a bargain now compared to the DAYS.Keep up the good work. Bob P.S. Barbara, Next trip you might be able to talk me into giving up a post card or two from the 70's,HaHa

Hey Barbara,I'll look around and see what I have left or can part with. HaHa I'll let you know in the next few months when we'll be on island again. Hopefully Nov/Dec and as usual the last two weeks of Feb........Remember when to drive from Front St to the airport was 10 minutes. On our last day we would drive to Portofino's for lunch. We usually parked close to his Citroen(sp)right in front of the entrance. After lunch it was a 10 minute drive to PJIA. In those DAYS there was rental car drop off across the road from PJIA.We would watch our plane land from the outside rooftop section of the airport restaurant.Funny how the cashier several times had added an extra $10.00 to our bill. I guess he figured tourists were rushed to catch their plane and wouldn't check the addition. His adding machine on the table next to everyones checks was just for looks. HaHa

Anyone else recall the name of the locally bottled water from Savanna (sp) near Grand Case during the early 90's.How about all the tall palm trees on Orient Beach before the hurrician.Or Orient before the Village & the hotels were built.
