If anyone is interested or remembers I found a few pictures of Joseph who was the first beach person at COCO Beach/Esmeralda from the early 90's, I recall.

Although I never knew Joseph nor was on the island in the early eighties, I would love to see the photos. I'm sure once you post them, others will appreciate as well.

Oldtimer, Your hurrician story about the Belvedere reminded me of when we checked in and check out 5 minutes later. After seeing the room they wanted us to stay in we moved across the road and checked into LaHabitation again. We began staying at LaHabitation Pres week 86. Our Thanksgiving trip about 20 yrs ago we took our two children and figured we stay in the area for less money per night. But when we looked at the room they gave us we said forget it and decided saving a few bucks wasn't worth ruining a trip for the kids & ourselves. When I pass the Belvedere during our trips every yr I'm reminded of how we couldn't stay there even one night. The room we were given had no windows and the furnishings were new but plastic.

Who remembers men having to wear a jacket during dinner and in the casino at Little Bay Beach Hotel or other places.

Bob, I think Little Bay was th last holdout as far as men wearing jackets was concerned. that sure was the old days.. can you imagine requiring that now?
I used to go to Little Bay all the time after work for gin and tonic. The bar there had fresh tonic from the tap and they made the best gin and tonics ever and that was the drink of the choice in those days.
do you remember a bartender there named Odell?

Philippe, I remember Joseph the bartender who worked at beach bar in the afternoons. Also the casino dealers that DIVI fired when they purchased the hotel went to Mullet Bay Casino to work. That was a wonderful hotel experience before DIVI instigated buffet breakfast & dinners.I recall the restaurants around Mullet Bay Beach Hotel had men wearing jackets. I saw someone a few yrs ago walkin to restaurant on SB without shoes on just bare feet and was seated. Also at Little Bay we didn't have room safes. We used the large office safe with seperate box's similar to a bank.Do you remember LIMBO NIGHT on Fridays and the beach before the Belair was built.I'll never forget bumping into a security guard near our ground floor beach front room. They didn't have guards during our first few yrs there..........Barbara, I have similar POSTCARDS from Little Bay Beach Hotel showing the beach & hotel taken from the bay. In large letters across the top is written St. Maartin. The Belair hotel wasn't built when the postcard was made, like yours.I think your photo is from the 50's, right.

Remember when Grand Case restaurants had 2 seatings a night at 8:00 & 10:00.Tourists still needed reservations or you couldn't get into most popular places. How about the original BBQ buildings (LOLO'S) and the cooking drums in the road. Also two way traffic before the by-pass rd was built.Who else remembers when rental cars HAD to be DELIVERED to your hotel.

Years ago, we waited day after day for our rental car to be delivered. It showed up the day before we left! We ended up renting a scooter for a day and rode the entire island, looking for the rental place. All we got was sunburned! Rental cars at the airport is one GOOD change!
