PELICAN RESORT......last month.

Hey!

Share this with your PELICAN friends and owners. None of the artists renderings really show the immensity of the new MARINA buildings.

From US Airways to Philly April 15th. 2008, B-757 at about 500m.

From the same series: The bridge and environs in Simpson Bay. Red top buildings are the new public market place.

ENJOY!

BIGDEN

Those are GREAT! I never get them to come out clear when taken from the plane. Of course, I expect you have much better equipment than I.

Thanks Den!

Hey Barbara!

What's the deal with the market place in Simpson Bay? We have been past a few times this year and have never seen a lot of activity. Is it open? Can you buy fresh fish or produce?

It's a great concept and something we have looked forward to using.

It's probably going to be turned into condos soon.
no, just joking smiling smiley
I have no idea what is going on with that fish market. typical SXM though.. stuff gets started and never finished.
It was opened a year ago and is still hardly used.
why?
good question!
I think there was supposed to be a restaurant there and there was some problems with the permits..of course... as usual.
I think sometimes very early in the morning you can get some fish though

How about a big parking garage in that huge open space next to Royal Palm

Hey Vinnie!

That huge space is the cement pier. Cement boats and barges from Puerto Rico etc. unload there. It was really busy during the PJIA construction when even sand and gravel were imported.

The other big space is the police station parking lot etc. Plans are for a big Dunkin Donut there...hahaha!

Speaking of Oyster Pond, for anyone who hasn't seen it, here is a rendering of the final OBBR "lighthouse."

Oyster Bay resort looks nice. Any ideas about how much the timeshare units go for?

No idea. I know the new lighthouse is to be condos in the $1 million + range. With the glut of new condos on the island, it will be interesting to see if they sell. The other concern will be parking for the entire complex, with additional units but no significant increase in parking apparently planned.

I just saw a unit on the Aquamrina website for sale that has been on the market for TWO years. It took us a year to sell our condo! We also looked at the fractional ownership at the Pelican Marina. Beautiful units, but awfully expensive. Maint started at 741/week.

What is going to be built on the lot going up to the Pelican on the main road? There was a bagel store, which was wonderful.. Does anyone know what they are doing.. It is all clear at this point and there are little stalls inside, but nothing is going on at all...

We sold the land and the cottage in July 2004, to someone who were going to develop a little caribbean mall and include the cottage in it. This person sold it back 6 month later to someone else because of (apparently) family reason. The land and the cottage were sold once again few month later (and I think it was then in 2006) to another person who is known to be a developper. This person had other plan for the land and decided to level down the cottage. The plan was (is...) a 9 or 11 stories building. But since there are some pettifoggers neighbours around, the project is in court and may stay a while there since court (and all the apeals) are not proceeding very fast. So for now, nothing, in the future may be a tower, in the mean time the little cottage was destroyed for nothing!
Check my blog about it...

Kind Regards,
Philippe
