Returned last week from two weeks at the SBC. We were very impressed with the improvements in customer service. Very quick responses to service requests, and finally after two years of trying, I was able to get my new address changed in there system. Of course, I was then promptly presented with a bill for the assessment fee (of which I'm holding off on until litigation is completed).
The so-called improvements that have been made were not very noticeable. They do have new locks on the door which are using state of the technology, and surveillance cameras on each floor. Not sure about the implementation of them, but at least they are there. Supposedly they installed WI-FI in all of the buildings, but I'm an IT professional and purposely avoid such things while in SMX. We did have a killer blender during our second week in drjoe's villa. I can see where all the money went. Fresh paint on most everything, but I saw no new furniture, not even cushions or coverings. Washer & dryers need updating also, but... They are putting in new sliding glass doors, which were overdue. Same old televisions, but at least they work. Who stays in the room anyway?
The front desk was very helpful whenever we required assistance and we were even greeted with a smile. A nice change from years past.
Our visits to our favorite’s restaurants were wonderful less our night at Jimbo's. They seemed short staffed, but the food was good when it finally came. Don Camillo's was our extravagant night out and it was wonderful. The Boathouse was our favorite, cheap, great food, and consistent service.
After many years of visiting the island, we discovered the joys of our neighboring Mullet Bay. Not sure why we avoided it all these years, but we enjoyed many days there, it's plenty secluded on the far side. We pitched a shade tent that only blew away once, but a friendly Frenchman ran it down for us as I was struggling to get out of the water.
Lost lots in the casinos this year, but enjoyed every minute of it.
A wonderful vacation once again, and we are counting the days already for next year. Want to thank everyone at SBC for all their efforts in improving services, it is being noticed and I will recommend it for any first timer's.
One note about all the construction going on at that end of the island. I'm hoping that some improvements are being planned to help support the extra traffic, visitors, overall stress on the infrastructure. I don't know exactly, but the number of additional condos/apartments/time shares seem to be in the hundreds.
See ya'll next year!!
