verizon cell phon

Has anyone had any luck using a stateside (razr) cell phone in SXM? I did the international activation, and the verizon rep told me it would work, but I've been disappointed before with bad advise. The phone is CMDA, and I will do the preverbial "*228" prior to departure.

We have Verizon and it worked very well in the Simpson Bay area. Very fast conection and very clear. We were there in May. Not to expensive either. Not sure if it will work on the French side but was great on the Dutch side.

Would you elaborate on "Not too expensive"? Is it cheaper than the island rental phone rates of 30-cents a minute to the states?

Well you only pay for the time you use per call. I guess it would depend on what plan you have and how many calls you would make. I'm sure if you factored in the rental fee for an island phone and the minimum time you have to buy at a time to get the .30 rate, your own plan would be more ecomomical. Then again it depends on how much you need to use a phone to call home on a VACATION.

$1.29 per minute. I don't talk very long. Just check in with kids. Only one time did I talk too long and it would have been cheaper to go with a rental. So...it depends on your usage. Remember, it is easy for the minutes to add up quickly!!
