As always Ed, have to disagree. It's time to move into the present and future.

Somebody scream!!!!

No videos to go with it though. Try sample 7 for the good old days.

quite a fun...but you have to admit that Lou Christie seems to have done quite a bit of "living" since the old days.

Hey Ed, what no Wayne Newton videos.

Alan, too bad they aren't playing in the US on their reunion tour.

But seriously, get into the New Orleans funk scene, it's where the good music went and is alive and kicking.

Well, the whole point is that they're "oldies". I'm sure BettNan enjoyed it, enormously.

Does your "New Orleans Funk Scene" have anything to do with recruiting volunteers for mud removal from nude beaches in southern LA.? There's something you're not telling us...

Yes, there is a lot I'm not telling you. It's about talented, dedicated musicians that lost everything they had and can't afford to rebuild their house. (Do you know the name Fats Domino?) Others lost their instruments and music and places where they used to play music and get paid for it. It's about the musicians who put on shows to raise money to provide musical instruments for the schools who lost theirs so the next generation can still learn music. It's about the musicians who volunteer their profits and time to help rebuild the neighborhoods where they grew up. Do you want to hear more?

I was a big fan of the show NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. On the Dec 4th 2006 episode they featured a group of New Orleans musicians led by Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews played the new version of the Christmas classic as part of "The Christmas Show" episode's story line. The musicians were really the Hurricane Katrina survivors they played on the show. The vignette was coordinated by the Tipitina's Foundation, an nonprofit organization dedicated to helping New Orleans musicians affected by Katrina. It was one if the most moving things I've watched on TV in quite some time. Tears come to my eyes as I recall it.

Yeah, we went to the IAC (Instruments A Comin) concert this year and met Shorty (we still have the Christmas show TIVOed). We also saw him at Jazz Fest. His performance on the show was only a small part of his ability, especially when he gets into the James Brown tribute.

We also got to meet Fats there as well. He lived at Tipitina's for a number of months after Katrina while they raised the money to rebuild his house in the ninth ward.

They'll be a tribute CD to him coming out in September where the proceeds will also go to building houses in his neighborhood.

Another pillar of the music community that still isn't back in his home after 2 years; Big Chief Monk Boudreaux of the Wild magnolias.

Although still not in his home, banded with other local muscians after Katrina to form the New Orleans Social Club to try to keep the spirit of the music alive in the city.

Various groups around the country are now trying to raise the money to get him back home.
