Can anyone help me, myself and my partner are getting married in may at the OBBR but weve found out that they maybe some construction, can anyone enlighten me further on this.

Also what is the island like and hotel.

I'm currently writing this from a balcony at OBBR...

The construction is down on the other half of Dawn Beach, at the new Westin, which is a mess. Should not impact on your plans or party at all -- except to look at it from the beach (it's ugly).

Hotel is a time-share resort, with a few hotel rooms thrown into the mix. Beautiful pool, nice swath of white sand beach, the usual bar, fancy restaurant and beachside restaurant. Buildings are not the most attractive or luxurious on the island, nor are the accommodations -- but certainly not bad either. Water-lovers should bring snorkel gear; Dawn Beach has one of the better shore-accessible coral reefs with great aqua life.

Pretty nice property. However, stay away from the timeshare sales reps. One in particular, fellow who went by the nickname "Sug." One of the most obnoxious people I have ever had the displeasure to meet.

OBBR is suppose to start conctruction in mid April, first tearing down the five remaining orginal buildings and replacing them with newer time share units. There also are suppose to put a 6 story condo building with 18 units right at the tip of the Oyster Bay Resort property. Exactly how this will effect your wedding plans and when exactly they will start is a question. Feel free to send me a regular email address and I will send you recent photos of the Resort and Dawn Beach area including restaurants in the area.
