I am trying to find the names and location of Catholic Churches on the island. Can anyone help? I will be staying in the Terres Basses area, I know of St. Martin Tours but I am looking for some others. Is there one in Marigot?

Thank you Neil. This is a big help especially giving me the times for Mass. Since this will be my first trip to the island (there are 10 of us) where would the closest Catholic church be in regards to the Terres Basses area?

Mary Star of the Sea in Simpson Bay, the road closest to the sea!
Turn right just PAST the runway in Simpson Bay, the road will curve to the left...turn left when you can see the water....several blocks down on your left.

5:00 PM is the only Sunday Mass at St Mary's......they use to have an 8:00 AM morning mass on Wednesdays that I attended a few times....but it has been years since I attended that mass....not sure if it still happens. Father Wilson was the Celebrant...that is how long ago it was...

My mother is going to a family reunion for the Voges side of our family. Her grandmother was Cecile Angels Voges. She arrived on Ellis Island on May 20, 1913,
She came with her mother Cathrine and Grandfather Loise Voges. She latter married Steven Hassell of Saba, but meet him in New York.

If anyone can help e-mail me at the above e-mail address.

Thanks Kim

Churches - The Dutch side has Roman Catholic churches in Philipsburg, South Reward, and Simpson Bay.
St Martin of Tours at 30 Front Street has services Monday and Tuesday at 6AM, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 6 PM, and Sunday at 8 AM. The phone is 599 542 5892.
There are Methodist churches in Philipsburg, Cole Bay, Betty's Estate, and Simpson Bay. The French side has Roman Catholic churches in Marigot, Grand Case, and the French Quarter. There is a Methodist church in Marigot.

There is no synagogue on the island.

Mass in Marigot on Saturday is at 6:30 p.m. It is mostly in French, and will last at least 90 minutes. I have found that it is better if you understand French. Otherwise, it is like the old Latin mass, you don't know what is being said unless you had learned Latin.

If your English is better than your French, go to St. Martin in Philipsburg, Saturday at 6:00 p.m., and Sunday (when there is little traffic) at 8:30 a.m.
