Have to say, we have eaten at this resturant in the past, but this last trip, was really exceptional... The food was great, and the price is good. The service was wonderful... I will really go back there this winter, and highly reccomend trying this resturant... As for Peg leg!!! Was totally turned off wait time for dinner, and spent last thanksgiving there, and what was on the menue, all of a sudden they did not have!!! We were not at all impressed, Not been back.

Wow I had the exact same experience as you with both places. Just returned last night. We loved Pineapple Pete's on our last visit so we went back and Pierre was as friendly as ever. They added a special grouper dish to the menu and we took his advice and ordered it right on the money as was his lobster thermidor last trip. It was great, service super and Pierre even sent drinks over on the house.

PLP, please. Service was slower than ever and both owners were there and did not assist the staff who told us they were short handed. I know it's normally slow but when Shawn isn't there it's really bad. If this was my first time there, it would be my last.

crickets,

I thought when I wrote about this in a trip report about two and a half years ago I was the only one who was less than satisfied with Peg Leg Pub, or at least that was the feed back I received at the time regarding my comments. After our trip in April '04 I was totally turned off by the service (or lack of same), the wait time for both seating and service and truthfully, even somewhat disappointed in the quality of the meals. It didn't seem to matter if the owners were there or not and personally, I felt their presence only exacerbated the situation because they didn't pitch in and do anything to help make it better but seemed blind to the problem and only wanted to socialize with some of the clientel while their short-handed staff did the best they could. So alright, you think, anyone can have a bad day or two but in '05 the situation, if anything, had gotten worse. PLP was an absolute quality place in the beginning but sorry, guys, it seems like everyone has a hard time keeping up with the high standards Neal sets when he opens a property. Shawn is a charming guy but he just can't do it all alone!

I can only relate my own experiences. I have never had a bad meal at Peg Legs not to say they haven't served a bad meal or two. Six of us celebrated my 50th this past April and it couldn't have been better. Although the filets were small, they were perfectly cooked and seasoned and the service was excellent. It's not gourmet but nor is it priced gourmet. I guess we all have our own individual experiences at each of these restaurants. I've written off a few of the so-called wonderful gourmand restaurants at the Atlantis that everyone recommends that I wouldn't try again if the meal was $10 nevermind the $100 plus paid.

Pat...I have to agree with you about Peg Leg Pub...we have had three meals there and none of them were anything to write home about. The last time we were there there were only two other tables occupied and it took forever for us to get waited on. And I have to say that the food left a whole lot to be desired. That is one place we will never go back to. Now Pineapple Pete's that is another story. We have had several fantastic meals there with wonderful service. We will definitely be going back on our next visit!

Annie, I know you are a very intelligent woman. Why did you go back three times if you didn't like the meal?

Sandy...first time was the first day Neil opened the place and since they had not gotten the kinks out we tried it again but this was after he sold it. We went once for lunch and the second time I wanted to try the steak everyone raved about. I've had better shoe leather than that steak was and the service was non-existent. We have always given a place a second change and since Neil only owned it once when we were there we did go back twice after he sold it and won't go back again.

Wow - didn't mean to stir up a hornet's nest but from my own experiences I can say I went back 3-4 times and yes, the very first time I was there it was newly opened and we thoroughly enjoyed both Neil, Shawn and the whole 'pub' concept. The second time we went back we were probably one of the very first foursomes to dine on the rear deck - in fact per our discussion that evening with both Shawn and Neal, the chairs and tables had just been delivered that afternoon. Again, a very enjoyable meal - good food, good company and a great setting. After that, fame and notoriety; property sold and a steady decline ever since, IMO. The past two times we've gone because the majority ruled but I doubt I'd waste a valuable evening dining there again with so many other good places to choose from. But that said, we throroughly enjoyed our steaks at LosGauchos and many others have publicly given it a thumbs down so who's to say who's right or wrong?

Peg leg is diagnally across from the paridise casino, on the other side of the road, you should see the sigh that says!! Scoops ice cream, and its in there on the other side of scoops, and I beleive churches chicken in also in there.
Good luck with this resturant, even if the food is good at times, the service has made many people so disgusted, they will not return... I have one friend that said they had a 8pm reservation, took there young son with them, and had to yell at the waitress at least 3 times about how her son was hungry, and what was going on!!! They finally got served, but said they would never go back..

Anon!! It is right across the street from paridise casino, and in walking distance from Peg leg. Paridise, used to be lightning casino. As a matter of fact! Pinapple petes used to cook food for the bar in the casino, especially around football and baseball times, when alot of people go there for the games.
Ask anyone where the Paridise casino is!! And this resturant is right across the street...

I think some are confusing Pineapple Pete's with Peg Leg Pub. Correct me if I am wrong. Pineapple Pete's is a few doors down from Peg Leg Pub. We've eaten at Pineapple Petes and the food and service was good. Have yet to try Peg Leg Pub but will visit when on island in Dec.

I know the difference between Pineapple Pete's and Peg Leg. Number 1 is the food and number 2 is the service. And they are both mediocre at Peg Leg's. Perhaps we had the misfortune of dining at Peg Leg's when Shawn was not there but to my way of thinking it is not worth going to. Pineapple Pete's has great food, serivce and prices.
