Ed, if you go back to the late 70's, what is depicted as the conference center on your map was a very high class restaurant.

Yep, I sure miss the old Mullet Bay. What a hub of activity! I especially miss the beach bars and the restaurant that was on the beach. That is where we met and became good friends with the chef there.

Anonymouse, the map was produced by Sun Resorts. Do you, anyone, know the original owner, how many times it changed hands, wasn't it a Marriott or similar U.S. group at some point....?

i have such pleasant memories of Mullet Bay. we spent so many weeks there way back when! we especially loved watching the jets fly over the beach and the ocean pool. Boy, that map brought back so many memories...i try to think of how it was then, not now. loved the beach bar, too, and breakfast overlooking the beach...we spent a day at the beach last november and it was not the same. i have so many pics of Mullet but of course thay are not digital, would need to scan them...remember the shopping area? we visited the new amsterdam store every trip...so sad...

peace.

Ed,
This map had to be mid 80's. It shows three Towers and the proposed marina. It also shows the Grand Casino on the road to Hillside instead of cliffside where it was originally located.
Does anyone remember the first location of The Shipwreck at the end of Honeymoon walk?
Remember Sheraton trying to run the resort in the mid to late 80's but no recollection of Marriott.

I have an old brochure and its for Marriot's Mullet Bay Beach Resort, its old very old, it has pictures of the honeymooners walk going from the oceanside pool area over to the beach. Pt. Piourette wasn't even built yet, wooden deck at the oceanside pool and the bar was up and running at the edge overlooking the water. Here is a write up from the brochure:

"The mood of Mullet Bay Beach Resort.. as varied as your whim, your every desire. Dine casually overlooking Caribbean waters in the Pavillion or Shipwreck Restaurants. or for a more elegant mood, it's the Gourmet Restaurant...the menu matches the name. On the Lagoon and nautical, the atmosphere at the Frigate Restaurant is as romantic as the cuisine is delightful. and the unusual Hillside Restaurant offers yet another casual mood. Check the activities desk for the schedules of our weekly beach barbeque and General Manager's cocktail party, both enlivened with the gaiety of a Caribbean steel band. After dinner there's dancing and the glamour of the Casino. Daytime hours are sunlit and carefree. A lap across the olympic dimensions of the Hillside pool and you're ready to join the festivities at the Pool Bar there. Or to explore the activities of the Ocean Pool and Bar. Catch a suntan while enjoying a friendly game of backgammon. Whatever your mood, you'll capture it at Mullet Bay!"

perhaps a dumb question-

Is there actually a shipwreck out in mullet bay that a person could snorkle out to (today?) or was that just simply the name of the restaurant?
