Hi,
where do you register for work in Margot, St. Martin?
Is there a job centre where you should register?
Or can EU citizens just apply for jobs in the newspapers?
Thank you for your replies. You help is much appreciated.

as European Citizen you don't need an authorization to work in St Martin (French Side..) except if you are from Romania or Bulgaria. However there a few obligation to fulfill... For more information regarding right and duties I encourage you to contact the service "Europe Direct" by phone (free from any landline in Europe) 00 800 67 89 10 11 ou +32-2-299 96 96 (from a phone outside Europe). This is a multi language service. This is the link to the website where you will also ind a way to send your question through email or chat :[europa.eu]
Good Luck.

Kind Regards,
Philippe

Thank you for your advice Philippe.
It seems as if working in St. Martin is the same as working in any other part of the EU.
I have worked in the UK and Ireland, and St. Martin would be very similar.
You just have to pay income tax, part of which is paid into the EU social fund.
It would be the same if a French man came to work in Ireland, you just register to pay tax here. Some of it goes to the government, and some of it to the EU.
It really is like we are all one big country now in the Eurozone.
The only negative thing I suppose, is that small islands like Ireland, and St. Martin get swamped by EU immigrants looking for work, which pushes the unemployment rate up.
Do you think there would be more work in Marigot?
Or would it be better in other parts of St. Martin?
I expect it is the same as here, everyone goes to the big cities looking for work, as opposed to the smaller towns and villages.
Ironically often there is more work in the smaller underpopulated areas!
