Many thanks Philippe.
The legal minimum wage here in Ireland is only 1080 Euro gross/month!
That is before a 23% tax deduction!
I know it is very hard to get a job in St. Martin, but at least the minimum wage is higher.
The cost of living in Ireland is actually higher than St. Martin due to the high taxes we have to pay on everything.
I think I would be better off living in St. Martin as the cost of living is lower and the pay is higher.
The employment prospects are similar.
In Ireland we have 450,000 unemployed! 14% of the total population.
I know St. Martin is a much smaller island, but at least you are not 1 in 450,000 seeking work!
The average here is 2,000 applicants for every vacancy advertised.
The government are planning on cutting the minimum wage here even further, despite taxation increasing!
That is why we have 1000 people leaving per week as our country is broke.
