PHILIPSBURG - Dear Friends, As our small part in the global fight against HIV/AIDS, a unique opportunity has been created for art lovers and supporters of St. Maarten/Martin worldwide to contribute to a good cause.
With the generous support of Sir Roland Richardson, our renowned island artist, and “father of Caribbean Impressionismâ€, we have established an online auction of over 40 beautiful artworks by Roland Richardson to benefit the St Maarten AIDS Foundation.
What’s special about this auction?
- All works created by Sir Roland Richardson on St Maarten/Martin, many painted “en Plein Air†from real life
- 6 original oil paintings offered for sale online for the first time
- 1 original portrait to be done on request (private commission)
- 6 large collectible limited editions created exclusively for this charity auction
- 20+ regular size limited editions (each available in multiple copies)
- starting prices from $250 to $50,000
- 50% of the proceeds go directly to the St Maarten AIDS Foundation
This is a unique way of raising money from art lovers and supporters of St Maarten/Martin worldwide to benefit good causes on the island. We hope that this initiative, if successful, will encourage similar initiatives by other artists, homeowner communities and registered charities on the island. Join us in making this a success.

HIV/AIDS does not discriminate. Staff, workers, suppliers, families, friends and colleagues - in reality everyone is affected. September 2010 marks the fifth year the St Maarten AIDS Foundation is joining forces with Scotiabank for the STRONGER TOGETHER Red Ribbon Campaign. Our goal this year is ambitious: we invite you to join us in raising $100,000 for prevention efforts and to support those affected by this disease here on St Maarten. Over the last four years with help from local businesses, students, the media, government, as well as the general public, we have made great strides. However, while in some countries prevalence rates are on the decline, St Maarten unfortunately has not experienced that as yet.
From September 9th the Stronger Together team will be all over the island raising awareness and discussing HIV/AIDS. Public presentations and cultural events will be complemented by free rapid HIV testing and, leading up to World AIDS Day on December 1, we will once again host a radio-thon at Scotiabank in Philipsburg.
Thank you for your support. Only together can we make profound change.
