where to stay??

Hi all,
we are just starting to research a stay in St. Martin. We've been twice visiting from a cruise and we love what we've seen so far.

Could anyone please recommend where to stay - we are a family of 4 - 2 adults, two kids ages 7 & 4 - we want something with a nice beach, pool, nice rooms / view and family / kid friendly. Ideally, some basic spa services would be great too.

Thanks much!!

Did you want to stay on the French side or Dutch side.
French side is quieter and Dutch side has most of the nightlife.
On the Dutch side, my recommendation would be for the Sonesta Maho, The Royal Islander Timeshares, The Pelican or Flamingo, or Divi.
My recommendation for the French side would be Grand Case Beach Club.

I'm inclined to agree with John but will be more specific. I would strongly recomend Divi or Pelican on Dutch side because both have beaches that are pretty kid friendly and GCBC on French side for same reason. Other places good to but these are just better and Divi has a great spa if its still there.

We just came back from GCBC with our 7 year old and loved it there - there are two beaches - the GC one is shallow - it has some good beginner snorkeling for a little one - enough fish and stuff to keep them amused - the other beach has waves and a dropoff but is also nice. The rooms are immaculate and the staff is great. It is a plus to be able to walk into GC to eat dinner, although we loved the Sunset Cafe at the GCBC!

My husband and I are from the island of Trinidad. We are looking for a reasonable guest house from 17.8.06 to 21.8.06. We love to tour and usually use a hotel for sleeping and showering. Do you have any suggestions?

Sandra,

Check the L'Esperance Hotel. I personally have stayed there one and have friends that stay there every year, for the same reasons that you list.

Divi Little Bay would be an excellent choice. Great beach for kids, nice spa, nice accomadations.

Certainly would consider Oyster Bay Beach Resort. Although it's a timeshare, there are numerous places that have weeks for sale. It has a very kid friendly pool with water starting at about 12" going to almost 6' very gradually. It is also located right next to Dawn Beach. 15 minutes away is Galion Beach which is also extremely kid friendly. Can send more info on Oyster Bay if you need it.
