Important question from my grandson

Hi guys,

I’m Zack and my grampy is going to take me to SXM when I’m 12. I’m 10 now. He says I’m his favorite grandson, but ha ha I’m his only one. He goes to SXM every year but doesn’t know the answer to my very important question. So I said I’d write a note and maybe he could post it.

Will I be able to rent and drive a 4 wheeler off road and a jet ski in Great Bay and Little Bay by myself? He would be in another one near me, just not sitting on the same seat. He’s going to check this out in March on his trip, but I want to know now. Please help me.

I have my own 90 cc 4 wheeler and when I visit my friend Celis we each go on the lake with 1000 cc jet skis and in the winter we ride 1000 cc snow mobiles. I’m her only friend that her parents trust with the machines. I really know how to drive, trust me.

Sincerely,

Zack from New Hampshire

TOM2,

That was kinda mean to a young kid. Zack is actually 10.75 yeas old. I've (grampy) been going to SXM for over 25 years years and sharing my experiences with him for the past 6 or so years. He has helped me over the past 4 years put PowerPoints together for my classes on tourism and SXM that I teach in the states. His sister went to SXM a year ago and shared her experiences with him. So yes, he knows about SXM. And yes, he did write that note himself. I merely posted it.

But I would have hoped you might have answered his short and sincere question on this "friendly place."

Dr Doug

The 4 wheelers that I have seen on SXM are very large!
And they are not always going off road.
I've seen jet skiers at Orient
Don't really know of age limitations.
Best to have grampy check it out when he is next in SXM.

as far as I know, there are no 4 x 4 off roaders. there are 4 by 4 on roaders. As mike says, they
are very large.
they are all over the roads, are not really safe on our roads, and I am sure there is an age restriction..maybe 16? or maybe even 18 with a driver's license needed.
I also believe that jet skiers have to be about 16 too.
I am sure no one would rent one to a 10 or 12 year old.
insurance issues and all that stuff
sorry, Zack. when you do come here, you will have many different things to do, so leave the 4 by 4's to the older people , and go on the jet skis with your grandfather.

Hi guys,

It's Zack again. Thanks for explaining things to me. I'm a little sad but will have fun with grampy anyway. I'm finding other things to do too.

Zack
